Jake Livermore transfer options emerge as West Brom captain confirms he’s leaving

Jake Livermore intends to find a new club once his contract at West Brom expires in the summer, with other clubs emerging as options for the midfielder.

It was confirmed prior to Albion’s 2-1 win over Norwich on Saturday (29 April) that Livermore, 33, will be leaving The Hawthorns this summer, six and a half years after he was signed from Hull for £10million in 2017 by Tony Pulis.

After a tough few years and a lack of game-time under Carlos Corberan, West Brom’s captain will move on in the coming months but he’s maintained he’s not retiring and there are other clubs who are becoming possibilities for him.

“There are a few options,” Livermore said, as quoted by BirminghamLive.

“I am going to take a bit of time out with the family and see what is best for all of us.

“I still think I have something to give. I don’t want to cut my career short but at the same time, I have three beautiful children that I need to think about.

“They want to come and my three little boys want me to carry on playing so I think I will.

“That is not the end of me yet.”

All the best

Let’s not pretend Livermore has ever really been a good player for us.

In six and a half years, the former Tottenham midfielder has played 216 times for West Brom with very few successes in that time.

But on the whole, Livermore should be remembered for a terrible lack of discipline, terrible leadership and terrible performances.

From being sent off in the first games in charge for both Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce to stealing a taxi in Barcelona, Livermore’s record at The Hawthorns is nothing to sing about – it’s good news that he’s going.

Sure, he’ll have that last-minute goal against Tottenham but so what? It was a goal that gave us all false hope about avoiding a relegation that ultimately came.

Livermore has been a constant of our most recent dark age. He should have been binned years ago and has stolen a living at The Hawthorns since Pulis’ exit.

Will it be hard to replace him? No, it won’t.

In other West Brom news, it could take this player 18 months to fully recover from his latest injury blow at The Hawthorns.
