Supercomputer shares new West Brom play-off prediction ahead of Championship final day

West Brom have been given a nine per cent chance of making the Championship play-off places ahead of the final day of the season, according to FiveThirtyEight’s supercomputer.

The online supercomputer has also given the Baggies a two per cent chance of being promoted to the Premier League.

Carlos Corberan’s men currently sit eighth in the Championship table, two points behind Millwall in sixth.

The Baggies travel to Swansea in their 46th and final match of the season on Monday (8 May), with just three points separating the two clubs in the table.

They will need to win their meeting with the Swans but will also be relying on the results of many other teams on the final day.

Still hope

West Brom really have been their own enemies too many times this season, with the Baggies only having themselves to blame if they fail to secure a play-off spot.

Carlos Corberan’s men are now unfortunately relying on other results to go their way, while they must also of course overcome Swansea.

Despite the manager turning things around dramatically after a shocking start under Bruce, it looks like a play-off spot is just out of their reach.

But there are plenty of positives that Corberan can take into the next campaign, where a strong start will be needed if the Baggies want to make their way back into the Premier League.

West Brom may not have much hope going into the final day, but stranger things have happened in football, particularly in the turbulent league that is the Championship.

Baggies fans will be watching their own team closely, but all supporters will undoubtedly have one eye on the matches involving Millwall, Coventry and Sunderland.

In other West Brom news, Sky Sports co-commentator Don Goodman was left stunned by one Albion player after he played a “massive” part in the winner against Norwich City on Saturday (29 April).
