Journalist moots Rangers move for ‘versatile’ West Brom ace Karlan Grant to replace outgoing Ryan Kent

West Brom attacker Karlan Grant could replace Ryan Kent at Rangers this summer,  according to Daily Record journalist Robbie Copeland.

Kent is closing in on an Ibrox exit as his contract rapidly runs out, having joined the club initially on loan from Liverpool in 2018.

Grant has failed to land a regular starting spot under Baggies boss Carlos Corberan this season.

“Once a £15million addition for West Brom, Grant has long flirted with great things and it’s easy to forget he fired 18 goals in the Championship just last season,” Copeland wrote for the Daily Record.

“This season hasn’t been as kind, though, dipping in and out of the team with just five to his name and one in the league this calendar year.

“Perhaps closer to the Fashion Sakala mould than Ryan Kent, he can play out wide or up front and offers a versatile option to the forward line.”

Uncertain future for Grant

Grant was a regular for West Brom at the beginning of the campaign, but he then spent a large chunk of the season watching on from the sidelines, much to his frustration.

He is now back in the fold amid the injury to fellow forward Daryl Dike, but Grant is failing to hit the heights he reached in previous seasons.

Only 25, Grant could force through an exit from The Hawthorns this summer in order to get his career back on track.

He could look to the likes of current Gers star Todd Cantwell, who made the switch from Championship rivals Norwich in January, before hitting the ground running at Ibrox.

And like Cantwell, Grant has both Premier League and Championship experience, something that Gers boss Michael Beale is potentially after for the upcoming season. Beale may, however, opt for a more proven attacker as he aims to close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic.

In other West Brom news, Dean Ashton has complained about one incident in the recent Championship victory over Norwich.
