David Prutton predicts result of West Brom Championship clash v Swansea City
David Prutton has predicted the outcome of Swansea’s Championship clash against West Brom on Monday 8 May.
The Baggies are looking to gatecrash the playoffs after mounting a credible challenge towards the end of the 2022/23 season.
However, Prutton has predicted the Baggies’ season to come to a close on Monday, with Swansea running out 2-1 winners in South Wales.

“Sunderland and West Brom will be lying in wait, hopeful of a Millwall slip-up, and a victory that could see them claw their way into the top six,” said Prutton (Sky Sports predictions, 5 May).
It is so tough to call, but I do think that Millwall will be held by Blackburn. It just has that feel for me. A result that will do nothing for either, and potentially a frantic final 15 as both push for the win.
“Despite the fact Swansea have nothing left to play for I think they have momentum and I fancy them to actually beat West Brom. 2-1.”
Tough
Despite Millwall and Blackburn playing each other and Middlesbrough hosting Coventry, West Brom’s fixture is one the most daunting. Russell Martin’s side have been in excellent form of late and will be hoping to extinguish Albion’s hopes of making the top six.
Considering where West Brom were at the start of the season, the fact they’re even competing for the playoffs is remarkable. It’s now about getting the job done and hoping things fall into place. A win should be enough. It’s rare that all the playoff contenders pick up maximum points on the same weekend, and it’s unlikely to happen now.

We all know how important promotion is to the Baggies. The financial wranglings at The Hawthorns are well-documented. The club is currently operating with a loan from MSD Holdings, and are still awaiting Guochuan Lai’s £5million loan, which is likely to be written off.
It’s fair to say that promotion to the top flight would provide West Brom with a much-needed financial boost.
In other West Brom news, Dean Ashton has complained about one incident during the club’s recent Championship win against Norwich.
