Sabri Lamouchi admits West Brom loanee Cedric Kipre wants to stay at Cardiff City in transfer news

Cardiff City manager Sabri Lamouchi has revealed that West Brom loanee Cedric Kipre is keen to remain with the Championship outfit after this season.

The Ivorian has been a mainstay in the Bluebirds’ defence, making 42 league appearances amid a flurry of managerial changes that has seen Steve Morison, Mark Hudson and Lamouchi take the reins at different stages this term.

As shared by Wales Online (5 May), the Cardiff City boss confirmed that Kipre wanted to remain at the club this summer and that he would attempt to sign the 26-year-old if possible.

“Kaba wants to stay, Kipre wants to stay, Jaden enjoyed playing with us, but it is what it is and we know the rules,” he said,

“Unfortunately they have to go.”

Sell for fee

If Cardiff are willing to dig into their pockets for the acquisition of Kipre this summer, it would be foolish for West Brom not to oblige.

The Daily Mail reported last month (29 April) that the Baggies could be forced into a fire sale of their first team if they don’t get promoted to the Premier League this season, and players such as Kipre could be a prime example.

The club will be in a terrible financial situation this summer if they remain in the Championship and any fee they can receive for the centre-back would be classed as business well done.

Kipre has seemingly enjoyed his loan stint with the Bluebirds this season, and the regular game time he has been offered must have been a pleasant change to The Hawthorns.

If the 26-year-old is keen on extending his stay in Wales, West Brom should oblige and try to get any fee they can for his services.

This looks like a move that can benefit both parties.

In other West Brom news, it could take this player 18 months to fully recover from his latest injury blow at The Hawthorns.
