Conor Townsend delighted for John Souttar as West Brom ace sends Rangers man message after Celtic defeated

West Brom ace Conor Townsend has sent a three-word message to Rangers defender John Souttar after he scored against Celtic on Saturday (13 May).

Souttar scored his club’s second goal of the afternoon in the 3-0 victory with a header from a James Tavernier corner.

It was his first for the Gers since joining from Hearts last summer, with West Brom ace congratulating his fellow defender on the achievement.

Replying to Souttar’s Instagram post showing pictures of his celebrations against Celtic, Townsend said: “Love it mate.”

Fantastic moment

With West Brom finished for the season following their final day loss to Swansea City on Monday (8 May), Townsend perhaps tuned in to watch his friend play in the Old Firm clash with Celtic.

And Souttar didn’t disappoint, with the centre-back shining at both ends of the pitch thanks to his goal and his clean sheet.

He will have been thrilled to land his first goal for the Gers after just 10 matches, not a bad record for a centre-back. The fact it came in a superb 3-0 win against fierce rivals Celtic will have been an added bonus.

Souttar’s fellow defender Townsend also had a productive season when it comes to the final third, with the West Brom left-back registering three goals and three assists from his 46 Championship matches.

Baggies boss Carlos Corberan may task the 30-year-old with upping those figures next time around as the club aim to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

In other West Brom news, Baggies manager Corberan has sent a message to the club’s supporters following the unsuccessful end to the Championship season.
