West Brom want to sign Aberdeen midfielder Ross McCrorie as ‘lucrative’ contract news emerges
West Brom want to sign Aberdeen midfielder Ross McCrorie along with a host of Championship clubs, according to Bristol Live.
Bristol City are “confident” of concluding a deal for the former Rangers man after a fee of £2million was agreed with the Scottish Premiership side (Bristol Live, 16 May).
It’s understood City’s ambition and genuine chance of promotion coupled with the facilities and infrastructure have persuaded McCrorie to make the move to the West Country.

It’s believed the 25-year-old Scot turned down more “lucrative” wages elsewhere, although there are elements of the move which still need to be tied up. Norwich City are also understood to be interested.
One that got away
This seems like one that got away for the Baggies. McCrorie is now in the prime of his career having spent a number of years at Rangers and on loan at various clubs. He’s come into his own since leaving Ibrox for the Dons. He’s become an integral part of things at Pittodrie and will be an astute piece of business for the Robins if they can get the deal over the line.
For West Brom, transfer business will take a back seat for the minute. The club need to work out what is going on off the field and just how much backing Carlos Corberan will receive. The Spaniard worked wonders last season, and if he’s given support, another tilt at the playoffs cannot be ruled out.

But, if the Baggies are restricted to offering free agents big contracts, they could find themselves in a spot of bother next season. There’s uncertainty, and the quicker Corberan knows where he stands, the better for everyone involved.
In other West Brom news, the club have made a desperate attempt to rip fans off now the season has ended.
