Blur frontman Damon Albarn seems to aim West Brom dig at Wolves at show in Wolverhampton
Blur singer Damon Alburn seems to have taken a West Brom social media dig at Wolverhampton Wanderers during a live show in Wolverhampton
Wolves fans have been known for calling their West Midlands rivals “Tesco carrier bags” due to their blue and white striped shirts.
However, the West Brom faithful blew back at Wolves back when hundreds of Tesco carrier bags spread over seats after their FA Cup encounter at the Molineux Stadium back in 2007.

And in a tweet posted by Albarn [27 May], the Blur front-man seemed to have taken a dig at Wolves again, wearing a Tesco-branded sock while performing on stage.
The Tweet wrote:
“Nice Tesco socks Damon.”
“Wolverhampton, photo by Tom Pallant.”

Fierce
It’s incredibly unfortunate West Brom couldn’t secure their Premier League status for next season, or we could well have added another fierce Midlands rivalry to the mix.
And Albarn’s latest tweet would have added the perfect fuel to the fire, providing West Brom fans with the perfect platform to go and add further misery after their infamous Tesco carrier bag act back in 2007.
Had it not been for Julen Lopetegui, Wolves may well have been joining the Baggies back down in the Championship which will have given the West Brom faithful something else to cheer about.
For now, though, the Albion fanbase will have to temper their excitement after Albarn’s tweet with the knowledge Wolves still remain in a division the club can only dream of right at this moment in time.
Here’s hoping Carlos Corberan can deliver something special back to the Hawthorns this time next season.
In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer has given his seal of approval to a “very good” Baggies transfer target.
