West Brom star Jed Wallace baffled by controversial incident in Sheffield Wednesday v Barnsley
West Brom star Jed Wallace was left baffled by the controversial sending-off in the clash between Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley on Monday (29 May).
The two clubs went head-to-head in the League One play-off final at Wembley, with Sheffield Wednesday winning 1-0 thanks to a late header in extra-time from Josh Windass.
Barnsley were reduced to ten men early in the second half due to a red card for Adam Phillips, having been denied a penalty just moments before.

“Who’s doing the VAR at Wembley today?” Wallace wrote on Twitter. “What’s the point of even having it?”
The Baggies ace added: “It’s more of a yellow than red but he did go in aggressively. Tough one, but the penalty though, wow. Absolute stone waller.”

Drama at Wembley
There is always drama in these huge matches at Wembley, with so much at stake in the games, with the League One play-off final summarising such a situation.
The red card for Phillips and the penalty incident will be heavily debated in the days and weeks to come, with the officials perhaps hoping that fans will get over the decisions as soon as possible.
The Sheffield Wednesday players were not happy at all with the tackle, which did look very poor at first glance, with VAR replays only set to make things look much worse.
But Barnsley will feel very hard done by given how they wanted a penalty just moments earlier, with the red card capping off a miserable few minutes for the club.
Sheffield Wednesday will now be playing against the Baggies next season after their win, with two exciting Championship clashes between the pair set up for the upcoming campaign.
In other West Brom news, one Conservative MP has slammed Xu Ke for rejecting the chance to meet with Baggies fan group Action for Albion.
