Carlos Corberan exit development emerges at West Brom amid Leeds United manager hunt
Leeds United are still admirers of West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan, who has a release clause in his Baggies contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The Spaniard has done a tremendous job at the Hawthorns despite just falling short of the play-off places this season, steering the club away from relegation trouble and turning them into promotion contenders.
The former Huddersfield Town and Olympiacos boss had been strongly linked [Sky Sports, 7 February] with the vacant managerial post at Leeds following the sacking of Jesse Marsch on 6 February, but he opted to sign a new deal to remain at Albion [7 February].

However, according to the Daily Mail [30 May, page 66], Leeds United could make a fresh move to bring the highly rated Corberan back to Elland Road as they seek a long-term solution in the dugout after Sam Allardyce was appointed to take over from the sacked Javi Gracia for the final four games of this season.
“West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is a former Leeds Under 23 coach and has admirers at Elland Road,” the report read.
“He signed a new contract at West Brom earlier this year but it has a release clause.”
Give him what he needs
The Spaniard has indeed done a terrific job in the West Midlands taking the club from relegation strugglers to play-off contention, ultimately finishing three points adrift of the top six in ninth place.
Indeed, Corberan’s record as manager certainly makes for good reading, winning 17 of his 33 games in charge and also holding an outstanding home record at The Hawthorns.

It’s little wonder Corberan’s stock is so high, and Leeds United viewing him as a long-term option as boss is absolutely no surprise.
However, the Baggies should be doing all they can to keep Corberan at The Hawthorns. The club is in a perilous position financially and it would be easy to see why Corberan could be swayed by a return to his former club this summer.
West Brom will need to find a way to give Corberan assurances he can improve the playing squad and that the club match his ambitions of pushing for promotion next season. Whether the board can provide those assurances is another matter, though.
In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer has given his seal of approval to a “very good” Baggies transfer target.
