Leeds United to sound out West Brom release clause for Carlos Corberan amid Sam Allardyce development
Leeds United are likely to “sound out” West Brom about any potential release clause for Carlos Corberan, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Whites are reportedly keen on appointing the Baggies boss as their new manager ahead of the new Championship campaign.
The interest comes amid “likely” upcoming talks between Sam Allardyce and the powers that be at Leeds.

“Leeds have Carlos Corberan on their list of targets to be their next boss,” according to the Daily Mirror (page 55, 31 May). “Leeds were keen on Corberan before appointing Javi Gracia to succeed Jesse Marsch earlier in the season.
“Sam Allardyce could not keep the club up and, even though Leeds are likely to talk to him, they like Corberan, who is regarded as one of the Championship’s best young managers having worked miracles at Huddersfield.
“Corberan signed a new deal at The Hawthorns to fend off the Leeds interest, but they are likely to sound out West Brom about any potential release clause.”

Fend off interest
Corberan obviously has strong ties to the Elland Road outfit, with the club in turn really admiring the manager after his successful time there.
The interest is, therefore, unsurprising, not only for those reasons but also due to the job that Corberan did at West Brom this season.
Like Leeds, the Baggies have had their off-field issues, but Corberan has kept a level head and even had fans dreaming of a play-off place at one point, a truly remarkable achievement given how poorly the club started the Championship season.
Leeds will be keen to appoint a new manager as soon as possible given how they will want to immediately bounce back to the Premier League, but the Baggies must remain firm and keep Corberan at the helm given how they will have their own ambitions of playing top flight football.
The Albion are onto a good thing with their current boss, and the club should do all they can to fend off the interest from Leeds, unless of course it is Corberan’s wish to return to Elland Road.
In other West Brom news, one manager has shared an update on the future of a “terrific” player wanted by the Albion.
