Carlos Corberan could now question his West Brom future amid developments at The Hawthorns
Carlos Corberan will now be questioning his future as West Brom head coach following the confirmed exit of chief executive Ron Gourlay on Wednesday (31 May).
That is the view of Birmingham Mail journalist Joseph Chapman, who spoke of a good working relationship between Corberan and Gourlay at The Hawthorns.
With Leeds United said to be once again interested in bringing Corberan back to Elland Road and the Spaniard reportedly owning a release clause in his contract, it remains to be seen whether the 40-year-old will stay put.

“And where, dare we ask, might this leave Carlos? It’s no secret that the pair got on very well and worked alongside one another to good effect in these last seven or eight months,” Chapman wrote.
“If Leeds United come sniffing with an offer to buy him out of the contract he signed only in February to ward off any interest from elsewhere, you’d imagine that he’ll be left to question his own future and how the club he is trying to guide back to the Premier League is going to look.”
Worrying times for Baggies fans
It is no secret that West Brom are facing financial difficulties off the pitch and failure to get promoted to the Premier League this season has left them facing a tumultuous summer.
Throw in the fact their parachute payments will decrease this season and there is a very realistic chance Albion engage in a fire sale to raise funds.
All of this was cause for Corberan to question his future already and now he has lost a close ally in the form of Gourlay the rumour mill will quickly swirl.

A former first-team coach and Under-23s boss at Leeds, the lure of Elland Road may prove too strong for Corberan.
Leeds are facing their own issues, at the boardroom level, in the football operations department, in the dugout, and in the playing squad.
But Corberan may weigh up his options and decide that the longer-term prospects at Leeds are a little more enticing than they are at West Brom right now.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies have beaten to the signing of an 18-year-old midfielder.
