Bristol City beat West Brom to Ross McCrorie transfer as medical now due

West Brom have been beaten off in the race to sign Aberdeen’s Ross McCrorie by Championship rivals Bristol City, according to Bristol Live.

The same outlet previously reported (16 May) that the 25-year-old midfielder, who is valued at £2million, was tempted by the facilities and infrastructure at Bristol City, despite being offered lucrative wages elsewhere in the Championship.

The Robins are set to wrap up the transfer of the Scottish-born player next week, ending West Brom’s pursuits in the process with his medical due.

Frustrating

Although Carlos Corberan masterminded a remarkable turnaround at The Hawthorns this season, this summer could prove to be extremely frustrating for the Spaniard, with the club in a financial mess and likely to miss out on several of his first-choice transfer targets.

The Daily Mail previously reported (29 April) that West Brom would be forced to launch an immediate fire sale of players after failing to secure promotion to the Premier League, with the likes of Dara O’Shea and Karlan Grant named.

If Corberan were to lose a number of high-profile players and fail to snap up his desired targets, potentially such as McCrorie, his patience could be severely tested.

Leeds United are reportedly lining up the Spaniard as a managerial option for the job at Elland Road, and if he doesn’t get transfer assurances this summer, he may well be tempted to part ways with the club.

Hopefully, missing out on players such as McCrorire won’t become a familiar theme over the coming months, and the Baggies can show highlight their intentions to Corberan in the transfer market.

In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer has given his reaction to the Baggies being linked to Blackpool striker Jerry Yates.
