Finance Expert reacts to West Brom boardroom news as Ron Gourlay leaves

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Brom columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Ron Gourlay leaving West Brom will just add to what is already a volatile situation at The Hawthorns right now.

The finance expert admitted that everyone has a tipping point, and the exit just adds to the uncertainty surrounding the boardroom at the club.

West Brom has since confirmed that Ian Pearce and Mark Miles will fill the responsibilities left behind by the former Reading chief from this summer onwards.

“It’s just another example adding to an already volatile situation,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“Everybody has a tipping point, and whether he was received in a good light for things he did or they weren’t happy with that he was doing, he was there and doing a job.

Now you have another person who has left and you need to fill those voids, it creates uncertainty. It underlines the position in the boardroom at West Brom at the minute, and it just doesn’t seem to be moving in a positive direction any time quickly and that hurts the fans and ultimately, the club.”

Gourlay may not have been everyone’s cup of tea at The Hawthorns, but he was the best line of communication between the fans and the owner.

That has now gone fully, so things may be getting worst before they get any better.
