£2.5m bid submitted for Blackpool striker Jerry Yates amid West Brom, Leicester City transfer pursuit

Blackpool have turned down a £2.5million bid for striker Jerry Yates amid interest from West Brom and Leicester City, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on Tuesday (13 June) that Luton, Coventry and Ipswich are also interested in the 26-year-old centre-forward, who’s valued at £4million by Blackpool after their relegation from the Championship.

While a bid has been made for Yates, The Sun does not report who’s made the offer.

West Brom

No chance

Every club interested in Yates has a better chance of signing the Blackpool man than West Brom do.

Luton are now a Premier League club, Leicester are Leicester, Coventry finished in the play-offs last season and Ipswich will no doubt be playing on a high next season after their promotion from League One.

Albion are hopeless and are unlikely to have any money at all to spend on new players due to the lack of parachute payments and a £20million loan to be repaid to MSD Holdings.

Yates did well for Blackpool last season despite their relegation.

He scored 15 goals and supplied six assists in 43 appearances across all competitions playing as a striker and also as a wide forward.

West Brom

He netted six of his goals 14 league goals against teams who finished in the top-six of the Championship, including one against champions Burnley and a brace against Sheffield United.

The Sun claims Blackpool are reluctant to sell their player of the year but won’t stand in his way if an opportunity arises for him to play in a higher league.

Unfortunately, the crisis at The Hawthorns suggests we might not even be in a higher league than Blackpool come this time next year.

In other West Brom news, a seven-figure exit has been agreed for one player at The Hawthorns.
