West Brom jittery over Carlos Corberan as Leeds United update emerges

West Brom will surely be in an uncomfortable position when it comes to Carlos Corberan as Leeds United are keen on hiring him.

The Whites have been through three managers over the last season and still failed to secure their status in the Premier League.

They’ve now drawn up their candidates and will plan on having face-to-face interviews in the coming days and look to conclude their process by the end of next week. [Telegraph on 16 June]

The Guardian reported on 15 June that Corberan was among the candidates on the Leeds shortlist and there is nothing to suggest that he’s not willing to return to Elland Road.

Leeds have a squad packed with international and Premier League level players and will be among the frontrunners to win the Championship next season.

The other names on the list are Daniel Farke and Scott Parker – both of whose reputations have taken a hit in recent times after the manner in which they’ve been sacked from their previous jobs.

Farke and Parker both have been tested at the Premier League level and failed so their stocks are at a low and it would be hard to sell to the fans.

Corberan, on the other hand, has worked with Marcelo Bielsa, so retains goodwill with the fans and whatever section of the board has remained at Leeds.

He’s done well at Huddersfield and took West Brom from the relegation zone to play-off candidates and had things panned out differently on the final day, they may have finished in the top six as well.

West Brom will try their hardest to keep Corberan at the club but if he wants to leave, there’s not too much that they can do.

This time next week, it may be the Baggies who are looking for a new manager as the Spaniard is very likely to be the favourite if the race is down to just the three of them.

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports pundit has lashed out at a Baggies employee and has mooted serious consequences behind the scenes at Hawthorns.
