Sky Sports pundit shares if West Brom exploiting fans with kit prices

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Campbell has reacted to the recent revelation of West Brom training kit prices for the 2023/24 campaign as they have launched new stock on their website.

There are kits that range from £37.99 to £62.99 while some of the replica ones for this past season are at £55 with a discount now being offered to the fans.

Despite the campaign that the Baggies had, their supporters are still expected to pay big money for club merchandise.

Discussing this exclusively with West Brom News, Campbell, a Sky Sports pundit said, “No, I do not see this as exploiting the fans as this is the shirt price and it is what it is.

I mean, I could tell you this much very rarely do shirts come out at a discount, you know, they’re wanting to generate funds to get to the marketplace.

55 quid I think is quite reasonable, if I’m honest with you. So, it’ll be interesting to find out what last season’s price was, you know, as opposed to £55 this year.

“I just think that’s quite reasonable because, you know, no disrespect. But I look at some of the prices of the Premier League sides and you’re going into nearly 100 quid, isn’t it? So 55 to 100 and odd, you know, I think that’s quite reasonable.

It still is a lot of money. Don’t get me wrong. But, you know, it’s, it’s a fashion item as well now, isn’t it?

It’s not just a football shirt that you wear on a match day, you know, you go on holiday, you wear it. It’s a, it’s a fashion statement. So I think 55 quid is quite reasonable.”

It’s hard to compare the Baggies with Premier League sides as their fanbase tends to be more global due to the added visibility.

Also, clubs barely make any money from jersey sales as the majority of the funds go to the official sponsors.

Thus far, no official announcement has been made about how the jersey for the 2023/24 campaign will look and how much the club expect to charge for it.

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports pundit has lashed out at a Baggies employee and has mooted serious consequences behind the scenes at Hawthorns.
