Chris Lepkowski shares latest he’s heard on investigation into £3.7m Jeremy Peace loan at West Brom

Chris Lepkowski has shared the latest that he has heard on the investigation into the £3.7million Jeremy Peace loan at West Brom.

Lepkowski has noted that the investigation into the loan has now been extended, having been due to be concluded within six months.

The Albion confirmed the launch of the investigation into the loan in December 2022, according to the Express & Star.

The publication noted that former owner Peace borrowed the sum against the Baggies and into his own company, WBA Holdings, in 2014.

“Hearing the investigation into the 2014 J Peace loan (£3.7m) will be extended,” Lepkowski wrote on Twitter. “Was due to be concluded within six months but now looking at nearer end of 2023.

“Both Shareholders For Albion (S4A) and West Brom keen for a thorough probing of this loan. In both parties’ interests to establish why it was taken out.”

Never-ending story

It really is a messy situation at West Brom, with constant negative stories circulating behind the scenes at The Hawthorns.

And such stories won’t end anytime soon given the current circumstances, with the extension of the investigation creating further uncertainty at the club, both for those involved and for the supporters.

The fans have been through it all in recent times, from boardroom struggles to on-field problems, with this summer representing a small chance for the Albion to put some things right before the new campaign gets underway.

Manager Carlos Corberan will want these distractions to disappear so he can fully focus on matters on the pitch and the training ground, but that doesn’t seem likely anytime soon.

The fact there is an investigation in the first place is, however, great news, as are the lengthy talks that were held between the club and S4A in the build-up to the decision in order to get to the bottom of the issue as swiftly as possible.
