Alan Pardew blasts West Brom ownership live on talkSPORT
Alan Pardew has blasted the West Brom ownership after claiming he was “let down” by the club during his short spell as manager while on talkSPORT.
Pardew spent four months in charge at The Hawthorns back in November 2017 until April 2018, with the infamous taxi incident in Barcelona taking place during that time.
But Pardew told Jim White and Simon Jordan during an interview on their talkSPORT show (27 June) that he felt let down by the club during that period, and admitted he was unhappy with the ownership at the time which he claims is still the same today.
“After the West Brom job where I was, I’ve got to be honest, I felt I was let down there in more ways than one,” he said.
“In terms of how the club and the playing staff, how it went. It just didn’t work. I just felt I needed a break. I wanted to take something completely different.
“It was difficult. I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t enjoy the ownership of the football club and it’s still the same.”
Same old
Imagine our shock at hearing that the West Brom board are not fit for purpose, whether we’re talking about in 2023 or all the way back in 2017.
Jeremy Peace had already left the club and Pardew was sacked after run of eight consecutive defeats, as the Baggies suffered relegation and finished rock bottom of the table.

While Pardew wouldn’t explain exactly what the issue was with the board and ownership, we can make our own assessments considering the absolute mess that the club is currently in.
The owner of the club isn’t known fully and fans are begging for Guochuan Lai to sell up and leave so that we can get back to being a real football club again.
It doesn’t look likely as it stands with him and his cronies refusing to speak to anyone, but West Brom fans’ frustrations have already been justified and now it seems that this has been a problem for longer than we’ve actually known.
