Dan Plumley has insisted that there are no legal issues surrounding any West Brom takeover or investment despite numerous problems.
Chris Farnell and Mohamed El-Kashashy are involved in a potential bid for the club, with advanced talks set to be well underway at The Hawthorns [The Athletic].
The finance expert admitted that fans will be left questioning whether any new owner will be better or worst than Guochuan Lai, given their “toxic” relationship.
“That is the challenge for West Brom at the minute,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“Look at some of the fans’ reaction and the supporters board, everyone that is connected with that club and that name based on some back stories rightly raises some question marks.
“It’s almost well is that better than what they have currently, because what they have currently is an absolute nightmare of a situation with the outstanding loan and the owner, the toxic relationship it has been at times.
“When somebody else steps in, there are perhaps some questions around their history as well, and there will be things there, there are no kind of legal issues behind that.
“It’s just the name and previous back story that tends to stick in the media, this is a great example of the real challenges of owning and selling a football club because you’re always looking at if it is better or worst than it has been before.
“All takeovers should always come with warning signs and you’re looking to manage that risk, but it shows where the club is at the minute.”
West Brom fans will always have questions given how badly the club has been run recently, but the question will remain all the time: could it get any worst?
