West Brom fans happy to see Grady Diangana leave as Leicester and Leeds watch on

Just 39% of West Brom fans would keep Grady Diangana at the club this season, following the results of a poll conducted by Birmingham Live, after news of interest in the winger dropped.

Birmingham Live put a poll to West Brom supporters earlier in the summer, acknowledging that some key players would have to leave the club, and asking which players they would like to keep at the club, which received a “healthy response” from fans.

Among the listed players was Grady Diangana was voted by just 39% of fans to remain at the club, in a clear indication that the West Brom faithful would be happy to see the ex-West Ham winger leave to bring in more transfer funds this summer.

As well as Diangana, other players linked to moves included Jayson Molumby, who 90% want to keep, and Dara O’Shea, who 78% of fans said they would have liked to keep, only for the Irish centre-back to join Burnley in a £7million deal.

The Express and Star shared yesterday (4 July) that Baggies winger Diangana is the subject of interest from Leeds United and Leicester City among other teams.

Capitalise on Championship interest

West Brom should capitalise on the rumoured interest of newly-relegated sides Leicester and Leeds, as they inevitably have more money to spend than other Championship clubs who may hold an interest in Diangana.

If the Baggies can receive even half of the £11.5million they paid to bring Diangana from East London to the West Midlands in 2020, it will be seen as a huge positive. It seems unlikely they will even make that much, but every little helps at the Hawthorns right now.

It is reported that following the sale of O’Shea, West Brom can afford to sell their players at base market value, as they look to avoid being taken advantage of in their financial situation.

The winger was a mainstay in Steve Bruce’s West Brom team but seemed to fall out of favour with Corberan as Matt Phillips was preferred on the left-hand side.

In other West Brom news, an imminent update is on the cards with eight contracts offered.
