West Brom transfer news as more exits to happen within weeks

West Brom could lose more stars following the sale of Dara O’Shea to Burnley for £7million, as Birmingham Live is reporting that further high-value players could be set to leave the Hawthorns this summer.

Birmingham Live shared that they know that more players of value will be leaving West Brom in the coming weeks after O’Shea was sold early on in the transfer window, and the club need to sell players to balance the books.

Plenty of West Brom first-team stars have been linked to moves away this summer, with Grady Diangana the most recent having been linked to clubs [Express and Star, 4 July], while Jayson Molumby was linked with a move to Leeds earlier in the window [Alan Nixon, 18 June].

West Brom need to make sure sales don’t add up

It is clear that West Brom will be allowing players to leave this summer if they receive bids matching their valuations, but they can’t afford to let too many stars leave and risk losing their quality.

If sales of key players continue and the club are unable to replace them adequately, it will lead to a huge drop in the strength of the squad, potentially putting an end to any hopes of promotion back to the Premier League.

The Baggies need to make sure they are able to replace exiting players, even if deals are done for free agents such as ex-Portsmouth player Jay Mingi, or exploring the loan market as has been done successfully by clubs in the past, with Sunderland and Burnley recent examples.

The club need to be sure they won’t miss their sold players too much, with Diangana perhaps viewed as a sellable asset due to Matt Phillips being the preferred wide option last season under Carlos Corberan.
