Carlos Corberan sacks long-serving West Brom coach Gary Walsh, new hire to arrive at The Hawthorns
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has sacked long-serving goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon noted that Walsh has been at the club for the past few campaigns, having been kept on by Corberan when the latter arrived at The Hawthorns.
But the former’s time at the Albion has now come to an end this summer, with Corberan now searching for a replacement.

“West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has axed long-serving goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh,” Nixon wrote on Patreon. “Experienced Walsh has been on the Baggies staff for a few seasons but was shown the door by the Spaniard.
“Corberan kept Walsh in his backroom team when he went to Albion but now he has been removed from the post with a new keeper coach to be installed.”

Moving on
Some West Brom fans may view the axing of Walsh as ruthless, but others will believe that Corberan is simply doing what he thinks is best as he looks to take the club to the next level.
First and foremost, the Spaniard perhaps didn’t have much time to think about positions such as the goalkeeper coach when he first arrived at The Hawthorns, with the manager more preoccupied with dragging the Albion up the Championship table.
He did exactly that, with the club only narrowly missing out on a place in the play-offs last time out.
That place will be the aim for the upcoming campaign, and now that Corberan has a bit of time on his hands, he can widen his focus to all areas of the Baggies.
Given his experience, Walsh can be expected to land on his feet at another club as West Brom begin the search for his successor.
