West Brom ‘not reliant’ on selling before transfers this summer – Mark Miles

West Brom managing director Mark Miles has revealed that the club are not reliant on selling players before they can do deals, as the club wait for a “domino effect” in the market, via the Express and Star.

Miles shared that, although there is not a lot of movement in the transfer market at the moment, particularly at West Brom, a lot is happening behind the scenes as the club look to do their first incoming deal of this summer’s transfer window.

He went on to suggest that, contrary to previous reports and statements, the club do not need to sell before they buy players and they will be in a position to move for a player if they become available for a transfer move.

Speaking via the Express and Star, the Baggies’ managing director revealed: “I think the market is very quiet at the moment, it almost needs a domino effect, some things to start happening with players to ripple its way through. There’s not a lot happening at the moment but a lot happening behind the scenes.

“Just because things haven’t been announced, it doesn’t necessarily mean nothing’s happening. We’re not reliant on getting out before we get in, we can bring in. The next bit of business we do might be a couple of ins, the next bit might be a couple of outs, there’s no requirement to get out before we get in.”

In terms of any incoming players, Miles said: “Something might just arise tomorrow and we need to be in position to strike if that’s the person we want, last year we did that with Okay Yokuslu, he suddenly became available and we were in a position to strike.”

These are promising signs

The beginning of this summer’s transfer window has been depressing for Baggies fans. A lack of incoming transfers, or even transfer rumours, while their best players have been linked to moves in an attempt for the club to balance the books.

Now, though, some positive words are coming out of the club, much to the delight of the fans. A suggestion that deals may well be done this summer, regardless of outgoing players, will give them something to look forward to and believe in.

Miles had previously suggested that more player exists will be next, following the move of Dara O’Shea to Burnley, but new quotes suggest there could well be incomings in the next few weeks.

The situation West Brom find themselves in has been described as a challenge by Miles, but it appears that challenge is one the club will embrace and battle against as they look to set themselves up for the coming Championship season.

In other West Brom news, the manager has sacked a long-serving member of staff.
