Sky Sports pundit predicts winner in West Brom and Rangers transfer race for Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Rangers will beat West Brom in the transfer race to secure the services of Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, predicts Kevin Campbell.

The English defender who’s capable of playing in midfield as well, has been linked with a move to Ibrox as well as the Hawthorns, as reported by the Daily Record on 10 June.

However, Rangers will be able to offer him Champions League football if they qualify and that’s not something he will be getting at the Baggies.

West Brom

Football Scotland reported on 7 July, that it will take £2.5million to sign the utility player from Forest this summer.

Discussing this exclusively with West Brom News, Campbell, a Sky Sports pundit said, “Rangers are going win that one because there’s a lure and an opportunity there to not only win trophies but you’re in Europe and it’s a huge stage, huge club, a huge stage.

So, again, if West Brom were to do anything to hijack it, it would not be possible as he would be going to Rangers.

So, unfortunately, I just think West Brom can’t fight Rangers right now.

The Baggies are a quality defender shy after Dara O’Shea secured a £7million move to Premier League side Burnley.

Panzo would’ve been a good utility option but if Rangers are willing to pay what Forest want, he appears likely to join them.

Carlos Corberan knows that he needs a defender or two this summer as he would want to improve on last season’s performance.

The Baggies were within touching distance of the playoffs and the aim surely will be to qualify this time around.

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports pundit shares if an ‘Outstanding’ Premier League player who’s got England ambitions is set to seal a move to the Hawthorns this summer.
