Henry Winter awestruck by ‘beautiful’ West Brom announcement on Wednesday

Journalist Henry Winter took to Twitter to give his verdict on the West Brom kit announcement.

The Baggies announced their new kit for next season with a touching tribute to the late Jeff Astle.

A video posted to the club’s official Twitter (12 July) shows ‘The King’s’ grandson following in his grandfather’s footsteps as his cartoon image of Astle is brought to life and proudly watches on.

The end of the video reveals that the Jeff Astle Foundation is the club’s official charity partner for the 2023/24 season.

Winter responded to the moving kit reveal with a simple yet effective one-word tweet (12 July), which read “Beautiful.”

Goosebumps

This kit announcement is an exceptionally moving one that everyone involved should be incredibly proud of creating.

So often clubs miss the emotional side of a kit release and fail to add a personal touch, however the Baggies have gone above and beyond on this occasion. It is also the least a legend such as Astle deserves.

Fans will be able to wear the kit with pride knowing that a brilliant charity is being supported and the connection provided through this video for Astle’s grandson, who never met the ‘King’, is truly heartwarming.

West Brom

A kit is more than just a shirt, it is about creating an impact, and West Brom have certainly done that.

It will likely be one of the club’s most popular kits in years with the fan’s memories and affection towards Astle pushing them to go and purchase the shirt ahead of next season.

Winter couldn’t have described it any better than he did. It truly is a ‘beautiful’ kit release.
