Natalie Sawyer loves tear-jerking West Brom news from Wednesday

Natalie Sawyer hailed West Brom for their “beautiful” kit launch video in tribute to Jeff Astle.

The Baggies tweeted on Wednesday (12 July) to reveal their latest strip and the video paid homage to the Baggies legend.

In it, Astle’s grandson is shown following in his grandfather’s footsteps as a cartoon image of Astle is brought to life and proudly watches on.

The end of the video then announced that the Jeff Astle Foundation is to be the club’s official charity partner for the 2023-24 season.

Responding to the video, talkSPORT presenter Sawyer wrote: “When dust gets in both your eyes!!!! Beautiful this from the Baggies.”

A touching tribute

Natalie Sawyer is not the only one to have been left emotional by the Baggies video, with Gary Lineker and Henry Winter among those to credit the kit reveal.

Jeff Astle spent 10 years with the Baggies and is an absolute legendary figure at The Hawthorns having won honours in both the League Cup and the FA Cup with the club, while he sits fourth in the list of West Brom’s all-time leading goalscorers.

West Brom

At a time when the hierarchy at West Brom seems to getting a lot wrong, with the club’s debts spiralling and key players likely having to be sold as a result, this is an area where the club often gets it so right.

It is a beautiful tribute to a hero at the club and the video has rightly gone viral and earned acclaim from all quarters, with Sawyer the latest to hail a truly special piece of work.
