Grady Diangana available for West Brom transfer exit, backed to replace Willy Gnonto at Leeds United amid ‘unbelievable’ verdict

Grady Diangana is likely available to leave West Brom this summer thanks to the situation at The Hawthorns and would “dazzle and excite” at Leeds United as a replacement for Willy Gnonto, according to Dean Jones.

Express and Star reported on 4 July that relegated Premier League clubs were among those at the top end of the Championship looking at the 25-year-old Baggies attacker this summer.

Meanwhile Elland Road teenager Gnonto is being targeted far and wide during the window, most prominently by Everton, and if the Italian moves on the “unbelievable” Diangana has been tipped as a worthy replacement if a deal can be struck between the two clubs.

West Brom

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT the former Eurosport journalist Jones said: “The potential availability is there given West Brom’s situation. He would be such a good player for whoever can get him.

“He makes defenders dizzy and some of the things he’s capable of doing in tight spaces are unbelievable. If Gnonto does end up leaving Leeds, this would be someone new that can dazzle and excite.

“It’ll be interesting, though, to see if they have the capacity to actually get a sale going.”

Leaking

It is the reality of the shaky financial ground West Brom appear to be on this summer that most, if not all, of the first-team squad will have their price.

Carlos Corberan, as with most of the fanbase, would surely like to avoid it in the case of Diangana for the very reasons that Jones describes.

Dara O’Shea’s move to Burnley has lightened the need to shed more players imminently, and Karlan Grant is now largely off the wage bill after his loan move to Cardiff City, but more exits could yet be on the cards.

West Brom

Albion supporters will be increasingly weary of any mention of Leeds United after the threat they posed to the manager’s position prior to appointing Daniel Farke.

Losing former West Ham man Diangana would be less of a blow in the grand scheme of things than seeing Corberan depart for Elland Road, but in an ideal world both would remain at The Hawthorns as they look to beat the Whites to promotion.

That the versatile wide man has made 72 Championship appearances in the past two campaigns underlines the fact that he is not a bit-part player, even if his output of six goals and four assists in that time could be better.

Leeds want to hold on to Gnonto this summer, so Diangana’s future may rest on whether they are successful in that, as a decent piece of whatever fee the teenager might move on for could quite feasibly force West Brom to make a decision.

In other West Brom news, the links between the two sides keep coming as backroom men are sent packing and a reunion is mooted at the Albion.
