West Brom grant permission for Nathaniel Chalobah transfer with another first-team exit on the cards

West Brom have granted midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah permission to hold talks with Maccabi Haifa over a permanent transfer, according to the Express and Star.

The news outlet said the 28-year-old, who has a year left on his deal, is jetting out for talks with the Israeli side as Albion are looking to continue to reduce their wage bill to help balance the books this summer.

The news follows the departures of several other senior players at the Hawthorns, with Jake Livermore, Dara O’Shea, Tom Rogic, Kean Bryan and Karlan Grant all heading out the exit door.

No loss

It will be no loss to Baggies fans to see the midfielder exit the Hawthorns despite only signing for the club on an 18-month deal from Fulham in January.

Chalobah failed to impress in his 13 appearances with West Brom and the fact that the club have agreed to let him head out to Israel to discuss a permanent transfer shows that they are keen to get him off the books.

It follows a theme of the club looking to let another one of the high earners leave this summer as Carlos Corberan aims to free up some more cash to be able to revamp his squad.

Albion are yet to make any signings so far this transfer window, but fans will be hoping that will soon change now that several players have moved on.

It’s important that Corberan is given the freedom to bring in the players he wants to the Baggies as he looks to put an indifferent season behind the club and push on ahead of the upcoming campaign.

In other West Brom news, a rival Championship side is in talks to sign a former Baggies target.
