West Brom transfer news as Jack Colback closes in on decision for move

Jack Colback is closing in on a decision on whether to join West Brom as other Championship clubs have expressed an interest in the midfielder, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist reported on his Patreon on 25 July that Birmingham City and Ipswich Town are also eyeing a move for the 33-year-old.

He is available on a free transfer this summer after leaving Premier League side Nottingham Forest following the expiration of his contract, with the Baggies keen on bringing him to the Hawthorns.

Great experience

There is no doubt that Colback would provide great experience for the Baggies after he has more than 400 career appearances to his name.

The midfielder played a crucial role in helping Forest secure promotion to the Premier League a couple of seasons ago and he has almost 200 games under his belt playing in the Championship.

He didn’t quite feature as heavily as he would’ve liked for Steve Cooper’s men last season, making just 11 league appearances in the club’s first season back in the top flight.

But Nixon said in his report that Colback is keen to carry on playing and would certainly still be able to play his part for West Brom as Carlos Corberan attempts to revamp his squad and push for promotion.

It sounds as though the experienced campaigner is now close to making a decision and, with his versatility to play across midfield and at left-back, the Baggies boss will be hoping he’ll be playing his football at the Hawthorns next season.

In other West Brom news, one Baggies star said the fans should be excited after what he’s seen from other players during pre-season.
