Jeremy Sarmiento status for West Brom opener at Blackburn Rovers explained
Jeremy Sarmiento is a doubt to start at Blackburn Rovers for West Brom on their opening day of the Championship season, according to the Express and Star.
The newspaper provided the update online (29 July) after the Baggies were beaten 4-3 by Bolton Wanderers during their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Sarmiento was not part of the squad that took on the Trotters and is a doubt to start at Ewood Park on 5 August when West Brom get their Championship campaign underway.

However, the on-loan Brighton star could make the matchday squad, which would provide an opportunity for the 21-year-old to come off the bench and make an impact.

Plenty of supporters will understandably be frustrated at the news as they will most likely be buzzing to see their new signing in action as soon as possible, especially considering just how much of an exciting addition he is.
There was a lot of shock when Sarmiento arrived, with the attacking talent a very bright prospect and one of the best in his position that Carlos Corberan’s side could have realistically attracted.

He already has international experience and featured for Ecuador at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, playing all three of his country’s group-stage games, which included a win over host nation Qatar and a draw with the Netherlands.
There is plenty of expectation that Sarmiento will do big things in a West Brom shirt and the club will want to get their Championship season up and running in the best way possible and therefore would have been hoping Sarmiento would be available.
In other West Brom news, two clubs are keeping an eye on winger Grady Diangana.
