West Brom ‘will have to’ listen to offers for Taylor Gardner-Hickman if they arrive

West Brom will have to listen to offers for academy graduate Taylor Gardner-Hickman if a serious bid arrives in the coming weeks, according to Birmingham Live.

The Baggies midfielder had been tipped to make the step up into the first team more regularly this season, particularly due to the lack of transfer activity, but reports now suggest he would be allowed to leave if a serious offer comes in for him.

Gardner-Hickman has recently piled praise on Carlos Corberan following an impressive pre-season as he revealed his desire to improve his performances and statistics this season.

The club would regret letting him go

While it has been widely reported that West Brom will need to let players leave this summer to help facilitate incoming signings, allowing an academy graduate to leave the club would be a mistake, particularly if the fee isn’t hugely impressive.

A number of Baggies players have been linked to moves away this summer, including Grady Diangana, and David Button, with the latter set to leave the club to join Reading [Alan Nixon, 30 July].

With the seemingly imminent arrival of Josh Maja and the reported interest in former Cardiff City loanee Sory Kaba, it would be fair to suggest that the Baggies are expecting to receive an incoming fee in the near future.

Whether this is a minimal fee for Button, which would get his wages off the bill, or a club advancing on the reported deal for Alex Palmer, Gardner-Hickman should not be on their list of sellable assets.

This is certainly one to watch while biting your nails.

In other West Brom news, the club may be on the verge of a game-changing double transfer deal.
