David Prutton predicts result of West Brom showdown v Blackburn Rovers for Sky Sports

David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will get off to a winning start against Blackburn in the Championship on Saturday 05 August.

The Sky Sports pundit has backed Carlos Corberan’s side to get off to the best possible start, suggesting that the Baggies will run out 2-1 winners in Lancashire.

The Baggies are looking to get their Championship season up and running with a trip to Ewood Park and hopes of a play-off push on the cards.

West Brom

Supporters travelling to Ewood Park will likely get their first look at new frontman Josh Maja after his signing was confirmed earlier this week and Prutton has suggested in his Sky Sports Bet Championship predictions (3 August) that West Brom will have too much for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team.

Never an easy start

As the old cliche goes, there’s no such thing as an easy match in the Championship, and there’s certainly no such thing as an early start to a season. All teams in the Championship will be fresh and ready to attack the season head-on and Blackburn will be no different.

The Baggies haven’t been exactly busy in the transfer market so the side that lines up at Ewood Park won’t be too different from the one that played the final game of last season against Swansea City, but Corberan has been aiming to instil a new style of play into his side.

West Brom

Pre-season results have been indifferent for West Brom, while Blackburn have appeared to be running riot in front of goal despite losing Ben Brereton-Diaz this summer, but you can never take too much from those sort of fixtures and both sides head into this one with a clean slate.

No side wants to start their season with a defeat and the Baggies will be no different, most fans at West Brom would be more than happy with a 2-1 win to get things underway.
