West Brom want to sign ex-Reading captain Liam Moore on free transfer
West Brom want to sign former Reading captain Liam Moore on a free transfer to bolster their defensive options, according to FootballTransfers.
Writing on their official website (17 August), the news outlet report that the Baggies and Sheffield Wednesday are going head-to-head to seal a deal for the 30-year-old centre-back.
Moore suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for almost a year, but he is now fully fit and hopes to seal a move in the coming weeks.

“West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs chasing the signing of former Reading captain Liam Moore on a free transfer,” they wrote.
“The 30-year-old brought a seven-year stay at the Madejski Stadium to a close this summer when his latest contract expired.
‘West Brom are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements after conceding four goals in their first two league fixtures of the new season.
“However, the Loughborough-born centre-back is now back to full fitness and, with the battle for his signature heating up, is expected to have his future decided soon.”
Interesting
Moore would bring plenty of experience and a good level of leadership to the squad, in a time where we are bereft of new faces and ideas.

A former captain of Rangers and an international for Jamaica, Moore has shown his qualities and abilities at this level and higher for years and would be a smart signing on a free transfer.
Currently our centre-back options are Semi Ajayi, Cedric Kipre, Erik Pieters and Kyle Bartley, but if Moore can get back to his best there is no reason he can’t compete for a starting spot.
With the club’s current financial situation as it is, this would be a shrewd move to boost the squad cheaply and also ensure that Carlos Corberan is getting the reinforcements he needs after a slow start to the season.
It will be interesting to keep an eye on this, with Sheffield Wednesday in the race too, but this is a deal we should be confident of getting over the line if we really want it to happen.
