Conor Townsend dropped, Brandon Thomas-Asante returns – confirmed West Brom XI v Leeds

Carlos Corberan has named his starting XI to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday (18 August) with one change to the West Brom starting line-up.

Brandon Thomas-Asante returns to lead the line for the Baggies, as confirmed on their official Twitter account, after missing out on the 3-2 home win over Swansea City last time out due to an ankle injury.

His return sees Conor Townsend drop to West Brom bench, where Josh Maja and Jeremy Sarmiento remain.

West Brom

Alex Palmer plays in goal, with a back three of Semi Ajayi, Cedrip Kipre and Erik Pieters. Darnell Furlong, Jayson Molumby, Okay Yokuslu and Matt Phillips play in midfield, with Thomas-Asante flanked by captain Jed Wallace and John Swift.

There to be taken

West Brom rebounded from an opening Championship defeat at Blackburn Rovers to defeat Swansea City 3-2 at home last time out, a match that they were in control of before goals in the 74th and 80th minute for the Swans set up a tense finale.

The Baggies are back on the round and it is a familiar surrounding for boss Carlos Corberan, who previously worked at Elland Road under former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

There will be little time for sentiment for Corberan, who knows there is a golden opportunity for his side tonight against a Leeds side who have taken one point from their opening two games.

West Brom

Leeds have had plenty of headaches off the pitch with several players leaving and others desperate for the exit door. Tyler Adams looks certain to be the next out the door, with Bournemouth ready to seal his signature.

It is a good opportunity to make a big statement, and Leeds look there to be taken for West Brom.

In other West Brom news, one pundit has tipped the Baggies to miss out on Jake Cooper.
