West Brom transfer news as Alex Palmer rejects exit already
West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer has revealed he rejected a move to Premier League new boys Luton Town this summer, stating his dream is to play top-division football with the Baggies.
Palmer emphasised his desire to remain at the club for the coming season as he admitted it was too soon for him to leave after just one full season as the Baggies’ number-one shot-stopper.
He admitted that it was a tough decision to make, to turn down Premier League football, but once again reaffirmed his commitment to West Brom stating that he will now make sure that he can achieve promotion to the Premier League at The Hawthorns.

The West Brom goalkeeper spoke to the Express and Star [21 August], revealing: “Every player wants to play in the Premier League, but for me, it just wasn’t right. Being so long here and to achieve being number one now, it’s something that was too soon to leave.
“I want to achieve promotion and get us back to the Premier League, that’s my ultimate dream, to achieve that with West Brom.”
He was then asked whether it was a difficult decision to make, when he admitted: “It’s one of those ones, I’ve just got to make sure it’s not the last opportunity I get, I’ve got to keep working hard and ultimate aim is to play in the Premier League, ideally with West Bromwich Albion.”

The right type of attitude
These sorts of quotes are the exact thing West Brom fans want to hear, not just the desire to reach the Premier League, but the dedication and commitment to their club. For fans to hear a star player saying that it’s the type of thing every football fan wants to hear.
Palmer’s decision to remain at the club he has been at since he was a boy is likely to be a good one. If he can continue to perform the way he has at Championship level, the move will always be there for him should he decide to take the step up at another time.
The commitment to seeing West Brom promoted to the Premier League may be wishful thinking with the state the club currently find themselves in behind the scenes, but shows the level of ambition at the club.
When Palmer was expected to leave, boss Carlos Corberan admitted his reluctance to see his number one keeper leave, so he will have been equally as delighted as the fans with his decision to remain in the Midlands.
