West Brom agree to terminate contract of Kyle Bartley

West Brom have agreed a deal with Kyle Bartley to tear up his contract and release him on a free transfer, according to Dood.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (23 August), the insider account who has called transfers such as Josh Maja and Taylor Gardner-Hickman already this summer, revealed that the veteran defender has been released from his contract.

Bartley was one of the highest earners at the club and with West Brom desperate to cut their wage bill down and free up room for new signings, the ex-Arsenal defender has been cut from the squad.

“Kyle Bartley released,” he wrote.

“Getting that wage bill right down.”

Mad

Most fans won’t be too disappointed to see the back fo Bartley in a West Brom shirt because he’s not been of the required level for a while now.

But the strategy the club is employing this late in the window is bonkers when you consider we’re already quite light on numbers.

West Brom

So far Jeremy Saramiento and Josh Maja have been the only incoming signings, one on loan and one via a free transfer from Bordeaux, while we have lost Dara O’Shea, Gardner-Hickman on loan with an option to buy, Karlan Grant on loan, David Button and Jake Livermore on free transfers and released Tom Rogic.

Unless there are already transfers lined up to replace these players then this is going to be an even longer and more difficult season than last year because our squad is worse.

We need additions as quickly as possible, and they need to be quality not just bodies otherwise Carlos Corberan has no chance of promotion.
