Done deal: West Brom agree commercial agreement with Birmingham-based Liquid

West Brom have finalised a commercial agreement with Birmingham-based integrated communications consultants Liquid.

The company will sponsor the Baggies’ men’s and women’s teams throughout the new season as a sliver member of The Executive Box.

In a move that will boost the Baggies’ struggling finances, West Brom’s head of commercial Tomasz Chadwick said, as quoted by Insider Media: “We’re proud to have fostered such a strong relationship and look forward to a successful season in partnership.”

Cash boost

While the income the Baggies will receive over the course of the 2023/24 season from this sponsorship deal is unknown, any extra cash coming into the Hawthorns is a big benefit.

West Brom have struggled financially in the transfer market this summer amid their continuing financial constraints, but this news will certainly please the hierarchy while also alleviating a little bit of fan anxiety.

Liquid is a Birmingham-based company too, so it is nice to see the club engaging with local businesses and with the interests of the area in mind. Football sponsorships in this day in age are often faceless gambling or crypto companies, so this deal is a nice change of pace.

The company looks to be growing in size, so the Baggies getting on board this potentially rising ship could help reap even more rewards in the future. West Brom fans are a proud group, so Liquid’s sharing of this philosophy would sit well among the fanbase.

Their chief executive Elisabeth Lewis-Jones said, as reported by Insider Media: “Sport has the power to unite communities, instil a sense of civic pride and showcase the people that make a region great.”

That being said, fans’ feeling towards club sponsors is often based on how much money they’re giving to help the development of the club and potential ethical considerations.

The Baggies could do with any significant cash injection at the moment and Liquid appears a legitimately invested sponsor, so this deal looks like a benefit for all involved.

In other West Brom news, an anonymous Baggies shareholder has spoken out about the club.
