Chelsea star Moises Caicedo sends message to West Brom ace Jeremy Sarmiento after win v Middlesbrough

Big-money Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has sent a message to forward Jeremy Sarmiento after he scored for West Brom against Middlesbrough on Saturday (26 August).

The pair of 21-year-olds are both Ecuadorian internationals and played together at Brighton before Caicedo signed for the Blues for a club-record £115million and Sarmiento joined the Baggies on loan this summer.

After scoring his first professional goal in Albion’s 4-2 victory over Boro in injury time, the winger posted on Instagram by saying “Finally the day has arrived”, with his compatriot responding with “Yes brother”.

Close

It’s clear to see that the duo are pretty close following Caicedo’s message to Sarmiento and there are a number of reasons for that.

Brighton were obviously eyeing Ecaudorian talents when they brought the pair in two years ago, with the duo being the same age and both playing for their country on a number of occasions.

Their moves this summer away from the Amex Stadium have been very different, but Sarmiento will have been delighted to register his first professional goal against the Teessiders.

Albion fans will also be pleased to have seen a glimpse of what the winger could offer for them this season as his superb, injury-time strike off the bench gave them breathing space and ensured the final few minutes were more comfortable than perhaps they may have been.

He will be looking to build on that performance over the coming weeks as he looks to nail down a first-team place in Carlos Corberan’s side this season.

In other West Brom news, Corberan has revealed when one exit-linked player could return to the side.
