West Brom transfer news as Reggie Cannon move now on cards
West Brom are interested in signing USMNT right-back Reggie Cannon after a legal dispute saw him leave Boavista, according to the Daily Mail.
Reporting the Baggies interest in the Transfer Confidential on Monday (28 August) Simon Jones named West Brom alongside Burnley, Stoke City and Birmingham City as in the hunt for the 25-year-old’s signature this summer.
Cannon claimed that he was only paid once on time in three years with Boavista and having won his legal dispute with the club is now available on a free transfer with Carlos Corberan’s side ready to pounce.

The USA international has had offers to continue playing in the United States but his goal is to continue his club career in Europe and his availability has left him with plenty of possible options.
Smart business
The Baggies’ hands are tied due to a lack of investment at the Hawthorns this summer and Corberan and his team behind the scenes have had to get creative with their targets and signing Cannon would be another example of smart business.
Had the legal dispute not occurred, the 25-year-old full-back would have likely cost the Baggies a few million pounds, which would have likely been out of the question this summer. But on a free, he would represent an excellent addition.

With 28 international caps under his belt and over 100 appearances across the MLS and Liga Portugal in his career so far, Cannon would bring with him experience alongside his youth that would greatly improve the likelihood of the Baggies pushing into the play-off places this season.
Whether or not a switch to the Hawthorns is as attractive a proposition as a move to Turf Moor or the Bet365 Stadium is hard to judge as although both sides may be better equipped financially, the Baggies are more likely to provide first-team football.
Corberan does have Darnell Furlong and Martin Kelly at his disposal on the right of defence, but the extra addition of a seasoned international would be an excellent option to have for the remainder of the campaign.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies may live to regret allowing Taylor Gardner-Hickman to leave the Hawthorns
