Carlos Corberan wants West Brom to sign new attacking midfielder in eleventh-hour transfer
Carlos Corberan wants to sign a new attacking midfielder for West Brom before the transfer window closes on Friday, according to the Express & Star.
The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (30 August) that Albion will replace any players who leave in the closing stages of the transfer window, which closes on Friday, 1 September at 11pm.
Brandon Thomas-Asante has been the subject of failed bids from Stoke while Grady Diangana is on the radar of Burnley, Leicester and Leeds.

It seems that even if no one leaves The Hawthorns, Corberan still wants to add to his attack by signing an “attacking midfielder or versatile option able of covering a couple of attacking roles”.
The Express & Star also adds that Albion would like to sign a new right-back in the final hours of the summer transfer window with USA international Reggie Cannon on Corberan’s radar.
Last-minute deals
It’s no surprise to see West Brom becoming more active later in the transfer window.
Jeremy Sarmiento (on loan from Brighton) and Josh Maja (free transfer) are the only signings Corberan has been able to make this summer due to the restricted funds available to him.
And although Albion have made a decent start to the Championship season, it’s not difficult to realise that this squad requires a fair bit of strengthening.

We’re just a couple more injuries away from having a bit of a crisis so adding some strength in depth – or even signing players who can replace existing starters – would be a good idea.
Yes, we need attacking midfielders but we could also do with new right-backs, left-backs, central midfielders, wingers and strikers.
Obviously it’s unrealistic to expect all those positions to be strengthened and it’ll be a case of prioritising for Corberan before the transfer window closes.
However, the central midfield area is one that cannot be ignored.
If Okay Yokuslu or Jayson Molumby get injured or suspended this season, we’ll be having to rely on the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Alex Mowatt to fill in and neither have exactly filled fans with optimism in their time at The Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has set a public challenge for one of his midfielders.
