Nottingham Forest transfer news as West Brom explore Jonathan Panzo move
West Brom are one of several clubs interested in completing a deal to sign Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, according to Darren Witcoop.
The Sunday Mirror journalist has reported on Twitter on Thursday (31 August) that the defender is on the radar of the Baggies, Cardiff City, Swansea and Coventry with the 22-year-old’s future still up in the air.
Panzo spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Coventry and another potential loan switch to the Championship has been considered, while there is also a chance he could be signed on a permanent deal should a hefty sell-on fee be included in the deal.
Carlos Corberan has only made two signings this summer with Josh Maja and Jeremy Sarmiento arriving at The Hawthorns but is understood to be interested in adding to his squad before the end of the transfer window, with a right-back and attacking midfielder preferred [Express and Star, 30 August].
One to watch
Panzo is on the radar of several Championship clubs because of how well he performed in England’s second tier last season. The 22-year-old impressed in Mark Robins’ Coventry side and would be an excellent addition to the squad at the Hawthorns.
With that transfer pot at the disposal of Corberan being so empty however, it may be difficult for the Baggies to win the race against their Championship rivals for Panzo’s signature, especially considering the money generated by the Sky Blues in their sale of Viktor Gyökeres this summer.

Primarily a centre-back, the Forest defender doesn’t particularly fit the bill of what the Baggies have been looking to add in the final days of the transfer window, but his versatility and ability to play at left-back could make him a valuable addition.
It will likely be a case of West Brom only adding to their squad should someone else depart the Hawthorns and you would have to imagine the Baggies have a much better chance in signing Panzo should Forest decide to loan the defender rather than sell him permanently.
