Coventry City have time to sign John Swift in late deal from West Brom after previous talks break down
Coventry City still have time to complete a move for West Brom midfielder John Swift, according to Tom Collomosse.
The Daily Mail journalist tweeted that the Baggies’ Championship rivals showed interest in the 28-year-old earlier this week, but talks didn’t progress very far.
He said there is still time left for the Sky Blues to revive their interest and seal a move for the midfielder, although the deadline is rapidly approaching.
Don’t do it
There is no way that West Brom can afford to let a first-team player like Swift go at this stage in the transfer window with such little time left to get a replacement in.
The Albion board could be tempted into a sale for the midfielder, though, if they receive an offer that they believe meets his valuation.
The club are still looking to try and offload some players during this window as they try to balance the books, but this is a deal that just feels too risky.

The last thing they want to do is let anyone who is of major importance to Carlos Corberan’s plans go after he has already overseen the departures of a number of senior figures this summer.
The Spaniard has also not been allowed to bring many players in during this window, with just Josh Maja coming in from Bordeaux and Jeremy Sarmiento joining on loan from Brighton, so you wouldn’t blame him if his patience is already running a bit thin.
In other West Brom news, talks are ongoing at the club to bring in a new signing on deadline day.
