West Brom transfer news as Jovan Malcolm set for loan switch to Cheltenham Town
West Brom are set to send young striker Jovan Malcolm on a late deadline day loan to Cheltenham Town, according to Jon Palmer.
The Gloucestershire Live journalist reported via his Twitter account on Friday (1 September) that the 20-year-old forward is set to join the League One side on a temporary deal for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
Malcolm managed to find the net five times in 14 Premier League 2 appearances last year and impressed Carlos Corberan enough to feature on the Baggies’ first-team bench seven times last season, making his debut against Sheffield United.
Good experience
Malcolm has impressed for the Baggies youth sides and while he has been used on occasion by Corberan, but the switch to the Completely Suzuki Stadium will offer him the chance to gain some consistent first-team minutes in a competitive league.
The 20-year-old will be joining what is currently a struggling League One side in Wade Eliott’s Cheltenham Town who so far this season haven’t won a single match or even managed to score a goal as of deadline day.

Cheltenham have struggled in front of goal having sold Alfie May to Charlton Athletic this summer and a loan move for Malcolm may provide his replacement as they look to secure their position in League One past this season.
Malcolm will be facing up against a number of incredibly physical sides in the EFL which will be a huge step up from what he has experienced so far in his young career and hopefully, it will mean he returns to the Hawthorns in 12 months ready to play a part in the Baggies’ first team.
In other West Brom news, Corberan made a late call to try and convince Cody Drameh to join the Baggies
