West Brom transfer news as Sheffield Wednesday want Alex Mowatt transfer
West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, is being considered as a possible transfer target by Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Star.
The newspaper reported via their website on 1 September that Wednesday are looking to add depth to their midfield options, with Mowatt’s name having been thrown into the mix with just hours left to go of the transfer window.
Mowatt has made three appearances in the Championship so far this season, but all of them came from the bench. It is unknown whether Wednesday would envisage a loan or a permanent move as things stand.

Corberan reluctant to let key players leave
Despite having not started a Championship game for the Baggies so far this season, Mowatt is viewed as an important player at The Hawthorns, providing some quality strength in depth for Carlos Corberan’s side and giving him the opportunity to mix up his side.
It was reported by the Express and Star at the beginning of this transfer window [27 June] that, while the priority at West Brom has been focused on player sales as they attempt to balance the books, they would not be pressured into selling their key players on the cheap.
Mowatt falls into that bracket, with his role in the squad viewed as important for the club’s success, so any talk over a potential loan move would likely fall on deaf ears at The Hawthorns. It would take an impressive bid to tempt them into letting him go.

The midfielder played 74 minutes in West Brom’s Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City last month in his only start so far this season but is likely to be used on a rotational basis as a strong replacement for tired legs as the season drags on.
In other West Brom news, one defender has already signed off on an exit from the club today.
