West Brom want £5m to sell Brandon Thomas-Asante in last-gasp transfer
West Brom are demanding £5m to let Brandon Thomas-Asante leave before tonight’s deadline, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (1 September), the Daily Mail journalist reports that the Baggies have been clear with interested parties about what it will take to get him out of The Hawthorns before the 11pm deadline.
Stoke have had multiple bids rejected for the former Salford City striker, but reports suggest they were nowhere near West Brom’s valuation.
“Brandon Thomas-Asante: West Brom’s valuation is clear – £5million,” he wrote.
“Lots can happen in these final hours but until now nobody has come close to their asking price.”
Too low
Considering the transfer market we are in, and the fact we have mere hours remaining, £5m is too low for Thomas-Asante.
Several clubs are said to be circling for his services with reports that the most recent bid was around £3m. If that’s the case, the gap isn’t that wide and with the amount of panic on deadline day we could see someone make the bid.

If we lose him we’ll not only be short on attacking options but we’ll have no time to replace him and head into the season with just Josh Maja and an injured Daryl Dike as strikers.
Earlier in the window £5m would have been a great price considering what we spent on him last year, but at this point it’s not enough to help us really.
We have to hope nobody makes that bid, because we can’t afford to lose him with no replacement now. The clock is ticking.
