Jamie Mackie reacts to Huddersfield goal v West Brom live on Sky Sports

Jamie Mackie has shared his verdict on West Brom live on Sky Sports after the Baggies fell behind to Huddersfield Town on Saturday 02 September.

Carlos Corberan’s side fell behind to The Terriers after 33 minutes, when Daniel Burgzorg found the net with a right-footed effort from just inside the box following a corner.

The Baggies have had an indifferent start to the Championship campaign so far, winning twice, drawing and losing one of their opening four games and they failed to make their home advantage count in the first half against Huddersfield.

Reporting on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (2 September, 15:35), Mackie said: “It’s well deserved, they’ve been really knocking on the door at the Hawthorns and it’s Burgzorg on his first start.”

Need to improve

For teams to be successful in the Championship they must win their home matches consistently and that looked to be something the Baggies were more than capable of in their wins over Swansea and Middlesbrough earlier in the season.

But the performance against Huddersfield in the first half was slightly concerning with the Baggies unable to turn their dominance of possession into any clearcut chances, with only shot being taken from inside the Terriers’ box.

West Brom

Warnock’s side have struggled earlier on this season and are yet to win a match in the Championship so far this campaign and if Corberan has genuine ambitions of reaching the play-offs this year, the Baggies will have to be better in the second half.

Hopefully, West Brom will be able to turn their dominance of possession into an all-important goal in the second half at the Hawthorns.
