Carlos Corberan receives West Brom backing as Baggies boss adds to his coaching staff
Carlos Corberan is set to add to his coaching staff once again at West Brom, with sports scientist Rafael Aranda set to join the Baggies, according to Birmingham Live.
The newspaper reported on its website on Monday (18 September) that despite having limited resources available to him in the transfer market this summer, Corberan had been backed to bring the Universitat de Valencia lecturer to The Hawthorns in a consultancy role.
While shuffling the pack on the pitch has proven difficult for the former Leeds United assistant manager, he has been able to reorganise his backroom team to his heart’s content, with Michael Hefele, Damia Abella and Marcos Abad all joining the ranks.

Discussing the latest addition, Joseph Chapman wrote: “Rafael Aranda has been brought in in a consultancy role, borrowed from Universitat de Valencia, and with him he brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the fields of physical activity and sports science, degrees in which he teaches.
“Corberan hasn’t been able to spend millions and millions of pounds in the transfer market, but what Albion have been able to do is to support his decision-making with senior personnel and sanction additions to help him reinforce his methods and plans for the future.”
For the future
When Tony Pulis appeared on the Baggies Broadcast, he mentioned that he believed West Brom had to back Corberan to ensure that he didn’t leave The Hawthorns and although not in the typical way, the Baggies look to have done that.
Despite the transfer window being a fairly dull occasion for the Albion, it is clear those above the manager are doing everything they can to ensure he is as happy with his situation in the Midlands as possible, given the financial limitations.

West Brom are not viewing the Spaniard as a short-term prospect to be in charge of their club and the available resources are being put to work to ensure everyone involved at The Hawthorns buys into Corberan’s views.
How long he will be in charge at the Albion remains to be seen, but every decision that is being made behind the scenes would suggest they are hoping to have him in post for the foreseeable. They are trying to build a team, and the club around it, to match his philosophy and image.
In other West Brom news, Corberan was left fuming after a penalty call was ignored in the Baggies’ draw with Bristol City
