Finance Expert reacts to West Brom mystery as shareholder speaks out

Dan Plumley has insisted that secrecy in the boardroom puts West Brom in a very difficult position on and off the pitch in the Championship.
Sam Cunningham reported for iNews on 25 August that one shareholder labelled West Brom as a club with “mysterious loans and unanswered questions.”
Plumley admitted that it is bound to have an effect on the pitch as well as off it, but it is nothing new at The Hawthorns with yet another sticking point added to the mix.
“That goes back to the wider picture and the things that are hindering West Brom at the minute,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“It’s clear that this is still an issue. I’ve always called for more transparency to the fans and to the stakeholders, but if you’re not going to do that, at the very least you need transparency across that boardroom, and if that’s not happening if the stories are true and there is some secrecy, that is a very difficult position for the club.
“That is the top level of ownership and they are making the decisions, so if they feel a little bit in the dark, that is a problem.
“We know that this is a problem, but it’s nothing new and it adds another level of complexity to the whole situation and if there are problems in the boardroom, it is bound to have an impact on the pitch and be a sticking point.”
