David Prutton predicts result of West Brom showdown v Watford for Sky Sports

David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will make it three games without a win as Watford will come out on top when the two sides face each other on Wednesday 20 September.

The Sky Sports presenter believes that Valerian Ismael will get one over his old side and the Baggies will suffer their third defeat of the campaign, suggesting that Watford will run out 1-0 winners at Vicarage Road in his Championship predictions.

Carlos Corberan’s side returned to action following the September international break with a 0-0 draw against Bristol City but will be without Josh Maja after it was confirmed the forward would be sidelined for roughly eight weeks following an ankle injury sustained at Ashton Gate.

The Baggies are still reaching for their first away win of the season, having drawn in matches against the Robins and Leeds United, but Prutton believes their wait will continue as he expects Watford to build on their 2-0 win over Birmingham City last time out.

Could go either way

After the opening six games of the season, Watford and West Brom have an almost symmetrical record in the league so far. Both teams have won, drawn and lost twice this season with the only difference being the goal difference of the two sides.

Vicarage Road is typically not an easy place to play as an away side and with Maja missing through injury, Corberan’s forward options appear to be limited once again, with Brandon Thomas-Asante the only fit recognised striker at The Hawthorns.

But there were plenty of positive signs in the Baggies draw with Bristol City to suggest they are more than capable of getting their season, away from home, up and running and on another day, Albion could have left Ashton Gate with all three points.

With the quick turnaround between games, West Brom fans might finally see Grady Diangana and Jeremey Sarmiento make their first starts of the campaign as Corberan looks to discover that winning formula on the road.

Prutton may have done Albion a slight disservice, but this is a tough one to call.
